This Cookie Policy explains how Function Desk LLC ("Function Desk," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on functiondesk.com and its subdomains (the "Site"). It works together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Each section begins with a short plain-language summary marked "In short." The summaries are for readability; the full text controls.
1. What these technologies are
In short: cookies are small entries a site stores in your browser; localStorage is a similar mechanism that stays on your device.
Cookies are small text entries a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Browsers also provide localStorage, which keeps small amounts of data on your device without transmitting it with every request. We use a first-party cookie to record your consent choice, scoped to functiondesk.com and its subdomains so a single choice applies across the Site, the documentation, and the console. We use localStorage for interface preferences such as your chosen theme; that data stays in your browser and is not sent to us.
2. The categories we use
In short: three categories — things the site needs to work, an optional analytics category that is off unless you accept it, and local preferences like your theme. Nothing for advertising.
We use no advertising or cross-site tracking technologies. The three categories we use are:

The consent cookie. It is scoped to functiondesk.com and its subdomains, contains only the word "accepted" or "declined," and exists so the banner does not reappear on every visit and so a declined choice is preserved.
Analytics and consent mode. Our implementation denies analytics storage by default. Until you click "Accept," no analytics cookies are set and no analytics identifiers are stored on your device. If you accept, Google Analytics sets first-party measurement cookies and collects pages viewed, approximate device characteristics, and coarse location; reporting does not log or store full IP addresses. Analytics data is processed on our behalf under contractual restrictions and is not used to identify individual visitors or serve advertising.
3. How long they last
In short: the consent cookie lasts about six months; analytics cookies follow the provider's standard lifespan; preferences stay until you clear them.

4. The consent banner and changing your mind
In short: the banner asks once. Decline and nothing changes about how the site works. You can change your choice any time via "Cookie preferences" in the footer.
On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics. Until you respond, the Site operates with strictly necessary and functional technologies only. Declining sets no analytics cookies and does not affect your use of the Site in any way — only the analytics category is subject to consent.
You may change your choice at any time using the Cookie preferences control in the Site footer, which clears the recorded choice and shows the banner again with analytics disabled until you answer. Clearing your browser's cookies for functiondesk.com has the same effect. Withdrawing acceptance stops future measurement; previously set analytics cookies can be removed through your browser's controls.
5. Browser controls
In short: your browser can block or delete cookies too — but blocking the strictly necessary ones can break sign-in.
All major browsers let you view, block, and delete cookies in their privacy settings, per site or globally. Blocking or clearing functional storage resets interface preferences; clearing the consent cookie makes the banner reappear; blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent console sign-in or cause parts of the Site to malfunction.
6. Changes to this policy
In short: updates get posted here with a new date. A new consent-requiring category would not run until you consent to it.
We may revise this Cookie Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in applicable law. We will post the revised version with an updated "Last Updated" date. If a revision introduces a new category requiring consent, that category will not operate for you until consent is obtained.
